September 13,  2024 Afternoon


The workshop was opened with a prayer by Mrs. Miriam del Rosario. She then discussed the history of persons and children with disabilities from the Greek and Roman empires, highlighting the abuses experienced by the persons with disabilities until Jesus came when the concept of disability changed. The US Ugly laws and the unfair sterilization of Persons with Disabilities was discussed until the Magna Carta for the disabled in the Philippines came. The new laws like RA 9442 and RA 11650 were also discussed with the children and a case study was given to 3 teams of the teachers.  The teachers teams answered questions on what teachers can do to assist a child with disability in the classroom. Teacher Erleen Dela Cruz then discussed the different approaches to children with disabilities in the classroom like Reasonable Accommodation and Lesson Modification. The teachers were then made to answer questions regarding the two approaches.The workshop ended with the teachers discussing ways how to help children with disabilities in their classrooms applying the different approaches of Reasonable Accomodation and Modification.

 

July 1 to September 30,  2024


Our Physical Therapist and CBR Coordinator, Samuelle Marie del Rosario continues to visit children with cerebral palsy in depressed areas with Marinela Kaabay and Mariel Villegas as her assistant and conducts Physical therapy for children with the worst cases. They also remind the mothers to continue with the physical program of their children.  The children’s family also receive monthly groceries and vegetables from Birthright friends in Sathya Sai International Organization.

 

September 11,  2024


12 families of children with disabilities who were victims of flood living along the Laguna lake (mostly with cerebral palsy) were provided with 10 kilos of rice. The sponsor was Bessie Daag, a friend of Birthright.

 

September 13,  2024


162 of children with disabilities who were under the CBR list of Birthright received 5 thousand each as birthday gift from the President of the Philippines, Bongbong Marcos through the office of Congressman Jaime Fresnedi. The project entitled, “Araw ng Pangulo” was meant to give families of children with disabilities 5 thousand each to provide for the needs of their children with disabilities. Muntinlupa PDAO worked with Birthright to inform families of children with disabilities to go and get their money from the office of the Congressman.

 

September 23-27,  2024


Friends of Birthright sent money in the amount of 15,179.00 to give groceries to families of children with disabilities who were victims of flood in Muntinlupa. Marinela Kaabay bought groceries amounting to that same amount to distribute to 30 families living along the Laguna lake who whose homes were flooded. The families were so thankful and were happy that Birthright remembered them.

After the Birthright team was introduced, the students also  each introduced themselves, Mrs. Miriam del Rosario discussed the history of children with disabilities from the Greek and Roman empires, highlighting the abuses  experienced by the children and persons with disabilities until Jesus came when the  concept of disability changed. The US Ugly laws was discussed until the Magna Carta for the disabled in the Philippines was instituted. 

 A case study was given to the students. The  case study highlighted the difficulties that disadvantaged child undergoes from birth to schooling like bullying.The new laws like RA 9442 and RA 11650 were also discussed with the children including the punishment for abuse and vilification of children with disabilities. The children were then given a lecture on how to practice disability courtesy towards persons and children with disabilities.   Towards the end the children were made to pledge that they will protect and uphold their classmates with disabilities in the classroom.
