The 26 teachers and staff of Birthright held its annual strategic planning meeting for two days, July 23 afternoon and July 25 afternoon to review the foundation’s mission, vision statements and SWOT analysis.Teacher Miriam added to the vision statement the phrase” In collaboration with effective networks” due to the new direction that SLF is leading.  The teachers and staff agreed. The strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats were discussed by the employees and the 2024-2025 priority goals of the foundation have been color coded;


​Red - Goals are the top priorities for this school year. Which are the following;

- MOA signing of  partners and continuation of CBID programs;
- Improving the physical facilities of the school; and
- The CHED accreditation of the Rehabilitation center


Orange - Goals are the second priorities which are;

- Hiring and development of main teachers;
- Training and educating parents volunteers


Yellow - Goals which came third priorities;

- Continuous upgrading of rooms and facilities;
- Contract of working students;
- Evacuation of Birthright residents to give way for additional rooms
- Retirement of MVR and Pastor Jun

Meeting with Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), Engineering Department, Architect’s Office and City Building Office of Muntinlupa City to plan for Access audit of schools, hotels and malls in the city. The assessment tool of the Department of Interior Local Government was discussed by PDAO head and Bellevue Hotel was assessed in the afternoon. Birthright sent Mr. Marlo Narag to be with the Assessment team as a representative of Birthright. Ten (10) personnels of the local government participated in the discussion and the actual access audit.

 

The result of the Accessibility Assessment was forwarded to the Mayor’s office.
​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​"Disability Sensitivity Seminar of Barangay Workers of Barangay Alabang"
July 23, 2024


In cooperation with the Persons with Disabilities Focal Person, Nory Sebastian of Alabang, Birthright held a Disability Sensitivity Seminar at the Congressional Building of Alabang Elementary School where 70 barangay workers and volunteers participated to celebrate the National Disability Rights Week. The team of Mrs. Miriam del Rosario, Mrs. Marinela Kaabay and Ram Joseph Gongora went to the venue to conduct the seminar. Mrs. Del Rosario lectured on the differences on the meanings of Impairment and Disability and what the inclusive community and school should be. The different approaches to Disability were also discussed together with the different barriers in the environment of the person and child with disability. Rights were discussed and how to balance it with obligation and responsibilities. Games were also conducted and the participants were very enthusiastic.  Birthright gave afternoon snacks as prices for the active participation of the barangay workers.
The barangay workers became more aware of the rights of Persons with Disabilities and told the speaker that after the seminar, they are more aware of the situations of Persons and Children with Disabilities and they promised to be more patient in dealing with them.
