An orientation of 51 parents of students in Birthright School was held last August 3, 2024.The Birthright Mission and Vision were discussed with the families and Simple Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for parents was taught so parents could apply ABA concepts at home. The different class programs were also discussed and explained to the parents to let them understand the Birthright methods of teaching and therapy. Some parents thanked Birthright for teaching them simple methods to be used for their children at home. Despite problems on consistency they promised to implement ABA method at home.

The oathtaking ceremony for the officers of the Federation of Parent Organizations and its 3 member organizations was held at the Muntinlupa City Hall.
The event began with an opening prayer led by Marinela Silva Kaabay, CDIG Coordinator of The Birthright Educators Foundation (TBEF). This was followed by a message from Rosemarie I. Geli, Acting Head of the Muntinlupa Community Affairs and Development Office (CADO).
Muntinlupa Mayor Rufino B. Biazon then delivered a speech, urging the MPCLPIDD Officers to assist the Office of the Mayor in integrating the seven-point K agenda—focused on Kabuhayan, Kalusugan, Karunungan, Kaunlaran, Kapayapaan, Kalikasan, and Katarungan—into the organization’s programs.
The oathtaking ceremony took place immediately afterward. The MPCLPIDD Officers represented the said three member federations: MDSA, MPCCPA, and PCLPID. Following the event, the Federation’s Officers held their first meeting with PDAO representative Susana Cañete.

 

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​"Disability Sensitivity Seminar/Workshop for Local Government employees of the City Hall"

On August 17, 2024, 77 municipal employees from Muntinlupa City participated in Disability Sensitivity Training, sponsored by The Birthright Educators Foundation (TBEF) in collaboration with the Muntinlupa Persons with Disability Affairs Office (Muntinlupa PDAO) and the Muntinlupa Gender and Development Office (Muntinlupa GAD). The training took place in the Audio-Visual Room of the Muntinlupa Municipal Hall with a total of 82 participants divided into two batches. The first batch attended the morning session while the second batch attended the afternoon session.During the training, PDAO OIC John Russell Benavidez discussed issues arising from Muntinlupa data on disability and the responses to these challenges. TBEF Executive Director Miriam del Rosario presented on the history of disability and its current implications, while TBEF CBID Coordinator Samuelle Marie del Rosario explored different perspectives on disability. A case study was presented about a young girl with a disability who lived in an urban poor community. Questions regarding barriers on the CWD’s life and participants were asked to conceptualize solutions as government employees to help the CWD. The Muntinlupa municipal employees shared various steps they plan to take as local government frontliners to enhance their programs for persons with disabilities (PWDs). Some representatives of other government agencies urged Birthright to conduct the same seminar in their offices so that their office employees will also understand Persons with Disabilities.

The City Health Department of Muntinlupa City took part in Disability Sensitivity Training, organized by The Birthright Educators Foundation (TBEF) in partnership with the Muntinlupa Persons with Disability Affairs Office (Muntinlupa PDAO). The session was held at the City Health Office in Muntinlupa City with 42 participants.City Health Office OIC Dr. Juancho H. Bunyi, MD, MPH, opened the event with a welcomingspeech and an overview of the training objectives. TBEF Executive Director Miriam del Rosario then provided a presentation on the history of disability, its current implications, and various perspectives on the issue. Following this, PDAO OIC John Russell Benavidez discussed data on disability from Muntinlupa, the challenges identified, and how doctors could apply their learnings in their respective communities. A case study featured a young girl with a disability from an urban poor community. The participants actively engaged in discussing questions regarding barriers on the said CWD’s life and solutions to help her were conceptualized. The doctors from Muntinlupa City shared their responses and outlined actions to improve their programs for persons with disabilities (PWDs). The training concluded with an exercise simulating disability experiences during lunch.

Six officers of the Federation of the Organizations of Parents of Children with Disabilities met to form their mission and vision statements and to decide on the name of their organization. They opted to name their organization, (FOPCD- LIPADD) Federation of Organizarions of Parents of Children with Learning, Intellectual and Psycho-social and Developmental Disorders.  They will meet again to finalize other matters especially what they will advocate to the mayor of the city when they take their oats on August 22, 2024.
